Teaching

I am an award-winning instructor with more than a decade of teaching experience in higher education. I have taught as a full time instructor at both Eastern Illinois University and Millikin University and was an instructor of record at Purdue University.

I have been recognized by both a small liberal arts college and a large research university for my ability to connect with students and be adaptable to their needs in a variety of classroom environments. I was acknowledged by Purdue University in 2021 with the Exceptional Teaching and Support during the Covid-19 Pandemic Award for “giving special attention to student inclusivity, engagement, and wellbeing” while teaching throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

I am well versed in using experiential teaching methods, having taught several courses that combine theory with practice. In 2016, I won the student-nominated Advisor of the Year award at Millikin University for my success in directing the university’s Model Illinois Government delegation. Model Illinois Government is an experiential learning simulation where students write and debate legislation for the state government.
